Bicycling in SanibelSanibel Island is a biker’s paradise! With 25 miles of paved bike paths, you can bike almost anywhere you want to go, and there are plenty of bike rental shops throughout the islands, so you won’t have to look far to find a bike. There are even kiddy trailers available for rent so you can bring the whole family along for the ride! While you’re pedaling you will be delighted to find yourself immersed in wildlife all in their natural habitats! On any given day, you could find yourself marveling at eagles, egrets, herons, bobcats, armadillos, and alligators to name just a few!

Fishing Pier Sanibel IslandThe clear blue warm gulf waters keep people coming back to Sanibel year after year! If you’re looking to get out on the water, there are numerous ways to enjoy it. Sanibel and Captiva are abundant with charters and boat rentals if you’d like to try your hand at some deep-sea fishing! Of course you don’t need to rent a boat to go fishing on Sanibel-you can go fishing on one of the fishing piers or get some sand between your toes and fish right from the beach!

Local cruises are another great way to see the islands and don’t be surprised if you catch a glimpse of playful dolphins frolicking in the waves behind your boat! It’s also not uncommon to spot a manatee in and around the water surrounding the islands! An experience like no other! There are also numerous places to rent watersports equipment to go parasailing, boogie boarding, or windsurfing. Diving and snorkeling are also a great way to spend the day in the water.

Golf CourseMany visitors to the islands enjoy tennis and golf. Numerous courts and courses are available, but even if your game isn’t great you can’t help but enjoy the spectacular tropical foliage and views of the Gulf waters. The majority of Sanibel is a nature preserve, thus it is not unusual to see wildlife right on the golf course itself! The whole family can enjoy miniature golf courses with just a short drive to Fort Myers.

Looking to play a little one-on-one? The Sanibel Recreation Center has a gymnasium, where visitors can enjoy basketball, volleyball, a fitness center with a weight room, and even a lap swimming pool – with a daily or weekly charge.   The center is located at the Sanibel School on Sanibel-Captiva Road.

Now about a little nightlife. Many restaurants on Sanibel and Captiva offer spectacular live evening entertainment. Fort Myers Beach also offers plenty of restaurants and musical entertainment - just a short drive over the causeway.
